With the arrival of autumn, Václav Havel Airport Prague has increased its pace in terms of passengers. It handled 1,585 million passengers In October alone, which is an 8.1 percent year-on-year increase. October has thus exceeded all previous months in growth.
Between January and the end of October, 15,240 million passengers passed through the airport, which is 5.7 percent more than in the same period of last year. Airport management expects the counter to stop at around 17.7 million passengers on New Year’s Eve, a year-on-year increase of about 6 percent and a new record.
Prague Airport has planned direct flights during its winter flight schedule to a total of 121 destinations in 46 countries around the world, which took effect on Sunday, October 27. It is six destinations more than in the same period last year.
The airport is already operating at the edge of its capacity and is planning to expand significantly. Above all, it plans to construct a new runway and terminal.
Competitive Vienna is also heading for the record, but its unprecedented growth has slowed down in October. In October, the airport handled 2.85 million passengers, up 10.2 percent year-on-year. From January till October, it has cleared 26.8 million passengers, an increase of 18.4 percent.
