Václav Havel’s Prague Airport cleared 5.48 million passengers from July to September 2018. The number of cleared passengers increased by 9.3 percent year-on-year basis. Most of the passengers were cleared in July, making it the busiest month in the history of the airport.
In July, 1,877 million people were cleared at the airport, a year-on-year increase of one-tenth. Even in August, passengers amount grew by 10 percent, in this case to 1,875 million. In September, 1,731 million people traveled from Prague, which is seven percent more than a year earlier.
“Prague Airport has also managed to maintain the trend of a slower increase in the number of air movements during this summer’s summer season when the air traffic over Europe has increased considerably,” said Václav Řehoř, Chairman of the Prague Airport.
“While the number of checked-in passengers grew by more than nine percent in the summer months, air traffic figures grew by 6 percent on yearly basis,” he added.
The most popular is London
The most popular destination in the summer months from Prague was London. It is the top-ranking destination of most of the passengers, followed by Moscow, Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt am Main.
Compared to the same period last year, nearly 50,000 more passengers traveled to London, a 16% year-on-year increase. For example, Budapest grew by 107 percent and 29 percent in Barcelona.
“As far as holiday destinations are concerned, the most frequent flights during the summer were to Antalya, followed by Bourgas, Heraklion, Hurghada, and Rhodes. Direct connections to long-distance destinations have also increased significantly during the summer season,” said the airport, with 34% increase.
