Connecting FlightsPrague Airport operates two terminals. Terminal 1 is designated for departures to countries outside the Schengen Area, while Terminal 2 handles departures to the Schengen Area member states. Transfer between them is effortless (there’s no shuttle bus between terminals).

Transfer Between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2

Applied procedure:

  • Arrival at the airport
  • Passengers do not claim their baggage
  • Passengers pass passport control
  • Passengers proceed to the assigned gate
  • Passengers pass the security check

The handling procedure in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 only varies depending on the location of the security check. In Terminal 1, the security check takes place in front of each gate, while in Terminal 2, there is one central security control located right behind the passport control. The walking distance between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is approximately 8 to 10 minutes (there’s no shuttle bus between terminals).

If your luggage isn’t checked through to your final destination, or if you’re carrying more than just a hand luggage, you’ll need to pick it up and check it in again at the appropriate terminal.

Transfer Between Flights

If you have a guaranteed transfer (booked on one ticket) or are travelling with hand luggage only, you can stay within the transit zone.

The transfer process is clearly signposted and typically takes no more than 15 minutes from deplaning to boarding your next flight.

  • Schengen to Schengen: Remain in Terminal 2 and disembark directly into the departure gate area—no security checks are required.
  • Schengen to Non-Schengen (and vice versa): Walk through a short connecting corridor from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 (approximately 150 metres). You will need to pass through passport and security checks.
  • Non-Schengen to Non-Schengen: Stay in Terminal 1 and exit directly into the departure gate area. You will go through security screening.
