Václav Havel Airport is a completely non-smoking facility, and there are no designated smoking areas—even within the transit zones. Passengers will not be able to find any location to light a cigarette inside the airport, as all smoking areas were abolished in 2018. Smokers must refrain from smoking upon entering the terminal until they exit at their destination. Instead, they are advised to use one of the 14 designated outdoor smoking spaces located in front of the terminal buildings.
The prohibition also extends to e-cigarettes and other smokeless alternatives. In addition, most airlines prohibit the use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products on board. Although e-cigarettes are permitted in hand luggage, they must be properly secured to prevent accidental activation.
Travelers should be aware of additional restrictions. For instance, users of e-cigarettes may face challenges when transporting liquid cartridges, as the combined volume of liquids permitted on board must not exceed 100 milliliters per container.
Traveler’s Tip
If you are traveling to non-EU countries where tobacco is heavily taxed, consider purchasing cigarettes at the Prague Airport duty-free shops. However, before you travel, verify the current tobacco import quotas for your destination. For most EU-bound travelers arriving from outside the European Union, the limit is typically 200 cigarettes (one carton) per person. Keep in mind that customs officers at Prague Airport may check the import limits for cigarettes upon your arrival.
