The Aviation Business Development Team at Prague Airport has achieved a significant milestone by winning the esteemed Routes World Award 2024. This award is specifically for airports that handle between 10 to 20 million passengers annually. It recognizes the airport’s outstanding work in expanding air connections, providing marketing support, and fostering strong relationships with airlines. In the final round of voting by an expert jury comprising airline representatives, Prague Airport outperformed well-known international airports, including Calgary, Hamburg, Edinburgh, and Budapest.
“We are truly grateful that our partners in the airline industry have recognized our diligent efforts and results. I feel immense pride for the entire Prague Airport Aviation Business Development team, whose hard work has led to this remarkable achievement. A lot of quality initiatives have contributed to this success. Throughout this year, we secured links to over 170 destinations in collaboration with our airline partners. In the past year, we successfully added 14 new airlines to our partner roster and launched 58 new routes. Furthermore, thanks to our ongoing excellent relations with airlines, we have increased flight frequencies on more than 40 routes. This has led to nearly a 30% year-on-year growth in the number of passengers handled during this period. However, we view this award not just as a recognition of our achievements but also as motivation to continue strengthening vital strategic partnerships. Therefore, we extend our sincere gratitude to all our airline partners who voted for us,” stated Jiří Vyskoč, the Executive Director of Aviation Business Development at Prague Airport.
Prague Airport was awarded first place in the category of airports serving between 10 and 20 million passengers annually by a panel of airline representatives. The evaluation took into account the airport’s marketing efforts directed at both its business partners and the general public. Additionally, judges assessed how the airport responded to its partners’ needs on a daily basis, the analysis of data to enhance air connection development, and the overall nurturing of relationships with airline partners. This year marks the third time that Prague Airport has proudly received the prestigious Routes World Award; it previously won first place in its category in 2015 and 2017. In this year’s selection, Prague Airport outperformed airports in Hamburg, Edinburgh, and Budapest, as well as Calgary in Canada.
The award was presented during the Routes World 2024 event, the largest international forum for the aviation industry, where key players in air transport—including airports, airlines, and tourism organizations—gather to discuss developments. This year’s gathering took place from October 6 to 8 in Bahrain.
