At Václav Havel Airport Prague in 2024, a remarkable total of 16,353,522 passengers traveled through its gates, and there were 134,609 take-offs and landings of aircraft. This marked an impressive 18% increase in the number of passengers compared to the previous year. Collaborating closely with airlines, Prague Airport successfully introduced 41 new routes, providing direct flights to 181 destinations around the world.

“The total number of passengers in 2024 is the third highest ever recorded, which is great news, especially for the Czech Republic’s economy. I am also happy to report that the occupancy of aircraft was high, averaging over 83%. Larger planes operating with efficient capacity result in less environmental impact overall,” Jiří Pos, the Chairman of the Prague Airport Board of Directors, stated. He continued: “In 2025, we aim to set a new record with 18.4 million passengers. This optimistic forecast is thanks to our consistent efforts to enhance air connections across Europe and beyond, competitive pricing, incentive programs, and advantageous operating conditions at Prague Airport. Last year, we launched 41 fresh routes and enhanced the frequency of flights on 66 existing routes.” Notably, the restoration of long-haul flights by Hainan Airlines to Beijing and SCAT Airlines to Astana, halted due to the pandemic, is significant, along with the initiation of a new link by Egypt Air to Cairo – marking the first regular service since the Czech Airlines connection ended in 2011.

Last year, the most popular direct flight route was between Prague and London, with nearly 1.4 million passengers traveling this way. This route saw a 26% increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year. Other frequently traveled routes included flights to Paris (719,000 passengers; +4% year-on-year), Amsterdam (651,000 passengers; +21% year-on-year), Milan (606,000 passengers; +11% year-on-year), and Rome (536,000 passengers; +37% year-on-year). In terms of passenger volume to different countries, the busiest routes were to Great Britain (2.1 million passengers, +29% year-on-year), Italy (1.9 million passengers, +22% year-on-year), and Spain (1.6 million passengers, +38% year-on-year). In total, 76 airlines operated at Václav Havel Airport Prague last year, with Smartwings, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa being the top carriers that flew the most passengers in 2024.

This year, travelers can look forward to new long-haul flights from Prague, including services to Abu Dhabi operated by Etihad Airways and to Toronto with Air Canada. Additionally, new airlines will be entering the market, including the South Korean Asiana Airlines, which will establish a regular connection to Seoul, and the German airline Condor, which will initiate daily flights to Frankfurt am Main. This year, Prague Airport anticipates expanding its destination offerings to over 190, with about 80 different airlines providing services.
