A new long-distance bus service now links the German city of Chemnitz (also known as Saxony Kamenice) with Václav Havel Airport Prague. The new line, called PragBus, runs twice daily between Prague and Saxony until 2 November 2025, and again from 28 to 30 November 2025.

“We welcome the launch of this regular bus service between Prague and Saxony, as it strengthens the connection between our airport and a key region within our catchment area,” said Jakub Puchalský, Member of the Board of Directors at Prague Airport.

“Residents of Chemnitz and the Erzgebirge can now reach both the centre of Prague and our airport in under three hours. This new service opens up more travel options for passengers and supports business and cross-border cooperation.”

Departure Schedule:
PragBus departs daily from the Chemnitz bus station at 5:15 AM and 12:15 PM, arriving in Prague at 8:05 AM and 3:05 PM.
Stops along the way include Marienberg town square and Terminal 1 at Prague Airport.
The final stop is Hradčanská Station, where passengers can easily transfer to Prague public transport.

Departures from Prague are scheduled at 2:55 PM and 8:55 PM, according to the timetable.

Sven Schulze, Mayor of Chemnitz and Chairman of the VMS, said:

“This bus connection between Chemnitz and Prague Airport is a milestone for mobility in our city and region. It enhances international connectivity and strengthens our economic and tourism potential.

Without the title of European Capital of Culture 2025, this important transport project wouldn’t have been possible. The title brought new opportunities for investment, cooperation, and improved European links. This connection is a great example of how Chemnitz is benefiting and preparing for future development. I thank all our partners who made this possible. We’re now even closer to our European neighbours.”

Anton Rico, District Councillor of the Erzgebirge District, added:

“This new cross-border bus line is a valuable addition to our public transport network. The fact that it runs through Marienberg—a central hub in the eastern Erzgebirge—is particularly beneficial. This direct link between Prague Airport and Chemnitz, the 2025 Capital of Culture, is a clear win for passengers and regional tourism. We hope it gains popularity and can continue beyond 2025.”

The bus service is operated by Tirtey on behalf of VMS. Each bus has 44 seats, air-conditioning, toilets, sleep-friendly seats, USB charging ports, and luggage compartments.

Mathias Korda, Managing Director of the VMS Association, said:

“PragBus offers a fast and comfortable direct connection to one of Europe’s major airports, serving a wide range of attractive destinations.”
