The long-established rule that flights outside the Schengen area are being checked at Terminal 1 of Václav Havel Airport will no longer apply as of 1st March of this year. Due to the reconstruction of the luggage sorting facility, Prague Airport will transfer check-in counters of many carriers to Terminal 2.
The first airlines have already begun to inform about the move on their websites. For example, Emirates has sent travel agencies an email about the move, details have appeared on their Facebook fan pages. The restriction will last until the end of August. Passengers check-in at Terminal 2, then goes through public Terminal 1, where they pass passport and security controls.
Prague Airport is preparing an information campaign regarding the changes in early February. “As a result of the reconstruction of the baggage sorting facility at Terminal 1, two check-in islands will be closed in March. For this very reason, passengers on selected flights from Terminal 1 will be temporarily checked in at the counter at Terminal 2. The entire operational measure is currently being finalized, ”said Prague Airport spokeswoman Kateřina Pavlíková.
There are 23 carriers to be moved, including EasyJet, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Korean Air, American Airlines and United Airlines.
