At the end of October 2019, the airline’s winter timetable came into effect and will continue until March next year. Several new destinations have been added, which can be reached by direct flight from Prague.
Great Britain remains the busiest country, with 17 metropolitan destinations offering direct flights to Prague. For example, every week there are 93 flights to London.
Next in the order of the cities that fly most to Prague is Moscow. For example, CSA has increased the frequency of its flights to the Russian capital and flies to Sheremetyevo airport three times a day. “Smartwings now offers three daily flights to another Russian destination, St Petersburg, three times a week,” adds Vladimíra Dufková, spokesperson for the Smartwings Group, which includes both Smartwings and Czech Airlines.
“Traditionally, there are also direct Smartwings flights to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in winter. CSA flights to Kyiv also increased, while CSA flies up to eight times a week to the Ukrainian capital. CSA also offers a daily connection between Prague and Keflavik in Iceland also during the winter flight schedule. So far, the line has been operated as a seasonal one in the summer,” says Vladimíra Dufková, explaining the winter expansion of our flight offer.
Czechs are not afraid of exotic destinations either. “Seasonal charter flights for the travel agency go to many other interesting destinations during the winter, such as Zanzibar, Mombasa, Kenya, Salalah, Oman, Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, and Cape Verde,” adds Vladimira Dufkova.
Sixty airlines fly from Prague, of which thirteen are low-cost ones. The rules vary, so always check what you’re paying for. “When purchasing tickets with Smartwings/CSA, clients can choose from several price packages. Customers may choose and pay only for the services they really want. They can create their own package and use only the services they really need,” states Vladimíra Dufková.
With low-cost airlines, the ticket itself is cheaper, but you pay for additional services. For example, if you want a preselected seat or have onboard refreshment or priority boarding, you pay extra. The price of luggage usually only includes a small hand-held one, and if you want to add more, you pay extra.
