Twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays, starting on 17th February 2018, passengers can use a low-cost airline Pobeda to travel between Moscow and Karlovy Vary. Tickets started selling at Christmas.
The airplanes will start flying from Vnukovo airport. Karlovy Vary is the first destination of this airline in the Czech Republic and will become the sixteenth destination of this airline.
The first tickets started being sold on 26th December. The minimal tariff is 499 rubles, including airport fees. The airline plans to offer a minimum of 100 tickets at this price.
“I’m very happy to announce that we are the only ones who can offer flights from this low-cost company, which is also one of the most sought-after airlines on the Russian market,” states Martin Hurajčík, deputy governor of the Karlovarský kraj (region) for transport.
“He also states that the region and the airport are actively finding new opportunities. We started cooperating with Jiří Pos, the previous manager of Czech Airlines and later the director of Prague Airport. He has experience in this field and can help us in many different ways,” adds Hurajčík.
The fact that a new player can join the market is also welcomed by Václav Černý, the director of the airport. “The Karlovy Vary airport will, for the first time in its history, strike a deal with a low-cost airline,” stated the director.
He believes that the new line will be successful and will quickly find itself a loyal clientele. “The travelers who will benefit are mainly those who use cheaper flights to Prague with subsequent transport to Karlovy Vary by road or train,” adds Černý.
The Pobeda Airline was created in 2014 and is a member of the Aeroflot group. The airline is flying the modern Boeing 737 – 800 planes. It offers tariffs that are lower by 20-25% when compared to classic airlines to its customers.
Thanks to its pricing policy, it became the most sought-after airline on the Russian market. The platform Aviasales rated the company as the pricing leader on the market. The occupancy of Pobeda flights is around 95% and in many lines, it reaches 100%
